FIVE STARS 18.5/20 | Candice Chow for Raymond Chan wine reviews
94 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
In classic Mahi style this wine focuses on balance and palate texture rather than the usual fruit forward expression of Marlborough Pinot Gris. Some retained use of seasoned oak adds palate weight and some further depth but the tangy pear and citrus flavours that pinot gris is known for remain in full effect. Quality wine. We loved it.
Cameron Douglas writes "A lovely aromatic lift with aromas of spice and ripe white fleshed fruit, pear d’ Angou and crunchy red apple, a fine lees autolysis and stony mineral moments. On the palate - sarin textures with contrasting acidity lead to flavours of white fleshed fruit and citrus pith, more lees autolysis and spice and a lengthy weight finish. A delicious wine ready to enjoy from today and through 2025+."
The winery writes "Characters from this special vineyard in Ward give this Pinot Gris complexity and depth. The palate has an elegant structure with a creamy, textural mid-palate and a long finish."
