Vinted from fruit from a single 3 hectare block in Bannockburn, this is premium Pinot Noir with the five star reviews to back it up. Winemaker Steve Davies (formerly at Akarua and Carrick) focuses on organic production and farming to improve soil health and the resulting wine is concentrated and mouthfilling with flavours in the dark berry spectrum. While drinking beautifully now, the real magic here will unfold over the next 4 - 6 years and patience will certainly be rewarded.
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit writes "A stunning rendition offering elegance as well as stylish opulence; the bouquet shows dark plum, sweet cherry, floral, vanilla and toasted nut characters with nuances of anise and olive. The palate is wonderfully weighted and concentrated, displaying multi-layered mouthfeel and supple tannins, finishing impressively long and expansive."
Michael Cooper writes "This highly age-worthy red was estate-grown at Bannockburn, hand-picked, matured for a year in French oak barrels (25% new), and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby, it is mouthfilling, savoury and supple, with concentrated, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours and a finely structured, lasting finish. Best drinking 2021+."
The winery writes "Scented with red rose, dark cherry, plum and spice. Mouthfilling, with dark berry, violet and spice flavours. Finely textured and showing real complexity, flowing to a persistent finish. Enjoy"
