A brilliant effort here from winemaker Dan Brennan, especially when you consider this is his first chardonnay release under his excellent Decibel range.
Testify is the flagship in the Decibel hierarchy and this is an elegant and refined expression of fine coastal Hawkes Bay Chardonnay that kicks off with gentle flinty / gun smoke characters on the nose. The palate show excellent drive with classic regional stonefruit and citrus flavours underpinned with restrained oak characters - despite the fact that this wine was fermented in new French oak barrels. It's a thoroughly modern interpretation that is already very attractive, and one that will continue to blossom over the coming 5-8 years.
We absolutely love the labels in the Decibel range and Testify Chardonnay is no exception.

Tasting Notes
Cameron Douglas writes "Classic Chardonnay aromas of vanilla and peaches, whipped cream and toasty wood. Enticing and plush bouquet. On the palate - creamy, weighty and fruity. Flavours remind me of baked custard and banana, vanilla, peaches and cream. The oak is moderate with flavours that reflect the nose- also with some wood tannins adding texture. Acidity is medium+ - ish adding a crispness on the finish. Overall a balanced and well made wine with a decent length and finish."
Winemaker Daniel Brennan writes "Testify' is a wine that is only produced in the best of vintages. It is my hand on heart proclamation that it is our best effort within this varietal, Chardonnay. In 2018 we were graced with a fantastic summer that expressed itself beautifully with the Chardonnay grown out near the ocean in Te Awanga, Hawkes Bay. This wine was also fermented in new French Oak and bottled in February 2019 before its release in August 2019".
