FIVE STARS 96/100 | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
95 POINTS | Cameron Douglas MS
Smith and Sheth's CRU range represents the very top tier of their wines and every attention is given to the growing, harvesting and production of these wines. Mangatahi is a premium Chardonnay that's punchy and ripe and packed with stonefruit and toasty caramel flavours. It's drinking well now but you'll be rewarded for tucking this one away in the cellar for a few years.
The winery writes "Straw colour. Fresh and vibrant with grapefruit, melon and citrus fruit on the nose with complexing nutty, cashew notes. A savoury, lush and full palate with balancing acidity and tension. Immediately appealing as a young wine but with an obvious ability to age for 5+ years."
Sam Kim writes "Gorgeously fruited and immensely appealing, the bouquet shows golden peach, nougat, cedar and brioche characters, followed by a succulent palate that is mouthfilling and expansive. Gracefully opulent yet firmly structured with an extremely long sophisticated finish."
