Delicous!
Over the past 20 years Ant McKenzie has crafted fantastic wines for some of the biggest names in New Zealand wine - Dry River, Framingham, Mud House, Te Awa and Spy Valley. Now, under his own banner, he has created a multi-tier range of wines with Theory and Practice range pitched as "contemporary wines with a creative edge" .
Somewhat ironically, this robust Chardonnay bucks the modern trend and shows all the stonefruit, buttery, oaky and creamy characteristics that traditional Chardonnay lovers adore. A new classic. Highly recommended.
The winery writes "Medium straw colour with green hints. Ripe nectarine and peach notes on the nose. Savoury fermentation nuances along with the creamy vanilla characters from the barrels support the fruit and bring complexity to the wine. The palate is full bodied and rich with a broad, slippery texture. Browned butter, toasted cashed and canned peach notes all add interest. These layers of richness come mainly from perfectly ripened grapes, sweet French oak barrels and warm fermentation temperatures. The finish is long and rich."
