SUPERBUY ON PREMIUM HAWKE'S BAY CHARDONNAY
92 POINTS | James Suckling
Quarter Acre is Te Awanga's reserve level range and the wines are a personal showcase for Rod McDonald - one of Hawkes Bay's most widely recognised winemakers. They all bear his signature style and continue to attract awards and five star reviews.
This is richly weighted, concentrated Chardonnay from the iconic 2019 vintage. It's complex, captivating wine with toasty oak and creamy lemon butter flavours. Given every attention in the winery and vinted in the style we know our premium Chardonnay customers adore, it delivers all the quality and generosity that we love in Rod's wines.
The Quarter Acre range has always featured in any discussion about premium, well-priced wines and, now that we've given it the Advintage treatment, it's crazy good value.
The winery writes"Grapes for this wine come from two vineyards: Doc’s Block by the sea at Haumoana, where the vines are about 20 years old, and an organically certified block by the Ngaruroro River where the vines are 12 years old. Subtle mineral, toast and peach characters on the nose, lemon curd and a precise, taut palate. Packed full of Hawke’s Bay, this Chard is one chalky, complex bad boy!"
